Studio Credits in InstaWP Studio
InstaWP Studio (Beta) uses AI to build and edit your site. Until you host a site on InstaWP, AI requests use a free allowance. Once you host a paid site, they use Studio credits, and your free allowance covers you whenever those credits run out.
Studio credits are not InstaWP Credits
Studio credits pay for AI requests in Studio only. They are separate from InstaWP Credits, the account balance you can use toward hosting and other purchases in the InstaWP dashboard.
Free use
Without an account
Each browser gets a free allowance for building. When it is almost used, Studio tells you, and when it runs out you see:
You have used the free building allowance for this browser. Sign in with InstaWP to keep building; your sites stay as they are.
Click Sign in with InstaWP to keep going. See Sign in to InstaWP Studio.
After you sign in
Signing in gives you a larger free allowance. Anything you used before signing in counts toward it.
This allowance is given once and does not refill, so deleting and recreating sites does not add more. If it runs out before you have published a site, Studio tells you to publish a site to keep building. Your sites stay as they are.
Monthly Studio credits
Each paid site hosted on InstaWP gives its team owner's account 100 Studio credits a month. A site on a free plan adds none.
A newly hosted site builds up its first 100 credits day by day during its first month. Your free allowance covers you in the meantime.
What uses credits

Under each chat reply, Studio shows the credits that request used, for example · 0.4 credits, or refunded, no credits used.
See your balance
When you are signed in, a credits badge in the top bar shows how many credits you have left. It reads free credits while your free allowance is paying, and changes colour when you are running low.
Click the badge to open the Studio credits panel. It shows:
- N credits left, and the date your credits are topped back up
- or No credits yet, if your hosted site is still building up its first month of credits, together with any free credits you can use meanwhile
- a Manage credits link to the Studio credits page in your InstaWP account
When you run out
When your credits for the month are used up, Studio shows:
This month's credits are used up. Get more credits to keep building; your sites stay as they are.
If this happens in the middle of a request, the request stops with the same message.
Click Get more credits to open the Studio credits page in your InstaWP account. Credit packages are coming soon. Until then, your credits are topped back up each month for every paid site you host.
If a site belongs to another team
If you see This site belongs to an InstaWP team you are not a member of, so its credits are not yours to use, the site is owned by an InstaWP team you are not part of. Ask the team owner to add you to the team.
