Edit Your Site in Chat in InstaWP Studio
The chat on the left of the builder is the main way to change your site in InstaWP Studio (Beta). Describe what you want, and Studio makes the change in WordPress while you watch the preview.
Ask for a change
- Type your request in Tell the agent what to change.
- Optionally, click the paperclip to attach images (PNG, JPEG or WebP), or the microphone to speak instead of typing.
- Press Enter or click the send button.
Studio shows its progress in the chat and in the preview. You can click the stop button to stop a request that is still running. When it finishes, the reply explains what changed and ends with a status: Done, Partially done or Blocked.
The first version of a new site takes a few minutes, because Studio designs the page, checks it at phone, tablet and desktop widths, and improves it before you see it. Later edits usually take seconds.

What you can ask for
You can ask for anything from a small wording change to a new page. For example:
- "Change the main heading to Fresh bread every morning."
- "Make the header background dark green and the buttons cream."
- "Add a section with three customer reviews under the services."
- "Add an About page and link it in the menu."
- "Use the photo I attached as the hero image."
- "Make the page easier to read on a phone."

Getting the best results
- Be specific. Name the section or element ("the second button in the hero") and say exactly what should change.
- One change at a time. Smaller requests are faster and easier to undo.
- Point instead of describing. To change one heading or section, Click to edit is often quicker.

Sessions
A session is one conversation with Studio about your site. The current session's name shows at the top of the chat.
- To start a fresh conversation, click + (New session) at the top of the chat. Your site stays as it is. Only the conversation starts over.
- To go back to an earlier session, click the session name and pick it from the list.
You can also see every session for a site in Site details. See Manage your sites.
To give the preview more room, click the panel button at the top of the chat (Collapse chat, or press Ctrl+B / ⌘B). Click it again to bring the chat back.
Editing a live site
After you publish your site, chat edits change the live site right away. Studio asks you to approve bigger changes, such as deleting a page, before it makes them.
