Billing Details
InstaWP now runs on a pay-as-you-go (v3) model. Instead of a single fixed monthly subscription, you are billed for what you actually use — each site is on its own plan and charged per day, alongside any snapshots and add-ons. Charges are drawn from your credit balance, and you top up credits whenever you like.
You manage all of this from the Billing Details page, which shows your estimated bill for the current period, a breakdown of usage, and your remaining credits.

On the legacy fixed subscription? A small number of accounts remain on the old recurring (fixed) subscription plan (Starter / Pro / Agency). If your account still shows a Change Plan and Cancel Subscription flow instead of the pay-as-you-go screen below, see the legacy subscription notes.
Navigating to Billing Details
Open your Profile from the top-right corner, then in the My Account menu expand Payment and select Billing Details.
Understanding Your Billing Details
The Billing Details page summarises everything you owe for the current billing period.
- Estimated Due — the amount you owe so far for the current period (e.g. 25 Jun to 25 Jul), after your credits and prepayments are applied. It is an estimate based on your month-to-date usage and updates as you add or remove resources.
- Payment due — the date the current billing period closes and payment is collected.
- Total Usage — the raw cost of everything you've used this period, before credits.
- Credit Balance — the credits currently available on your account. Usage is deducted from this balance first, so your Estimated Due only becomes non-zero once usage exceeds your credits.
- Refresh Usage — recalculates your usage on demand if you've just made changes and want an up-to-date figure.
How a billable day is counted. Site charges are based on UTC calendar dates, not a rolling 24-hour window from when the site was created. A site is billed for each UTC calendar date on which it exists (a minimum of one day). Because the count is by calendar date, a site that is alive across the 00:00 UTC boundary is charged for each of those dates — so its billable days can be more than its lifetime measured in 24-hour periods.
Below the summary, the Current Billing Period Summary breaks the charges down by feature — Sites, Snapshots, and any other billable resources — with the count, charges, and a link to view the detailed usage for each.
The table totals resolve to:
- Estimated Subtotal — the sum of all feature charges for the period.
- Credit Balance — the credits applied against that subtotal.
- Estimated Total — what you'll actually be charged (Subtotal minus available credits).
Viewing Detailed Usage
Click View Usage on any row (e.g. Sites or Snapshot) to drill into a line-by-line breakdown of what generated those charges, so you can see exactly which resources are contributing to your bill.
Adding Credits
Your usage is paid from your credit balance. To top up, click Add Credits on the Billing Details page and choose the amount you want to add.

Changing What You Pay For
Because billing is per-resource, you "change your subscription" by changing the resources you run — there's no single plan to switch. To adjust your monthly cost:
- Upgrade a site to a higher plan for more storage, PHP workers, CDN performance, or backups — see Upgrade Site Plans.
- Downgrade a site back down at any time — see Downgrade Site Plans.
- Delete sites or snapshots you no longer need to stop being billed for them. Since charges accrue daily with no long-term commitment, removing a resource stops its charges from the moment it's deleted.

Legacy Fixed Subscription
Accounts still on the older recurring (fixed) subscription model manage it differently: a single plan (Starter / Pro / Agency) is chosen from the pricing page via a Change Plan button, and ended via a multi-step Cancel Subscription flow.
