What is Image Optimizer?

Image Optimizer is an automated image optimization system for WordPress that compresses images and converts them into modern formats like WebP without compromising visual quality. It reduces image file sizes and ensures faster image delivery across all devices.

Once enabled, Image Optimizer works automatically in the background—no manual configuration or bulk optimization required.

How Image Optimization Works

Without image optimization, WordPress uploads and serves images in their original size and format, which can significantly slow down page loading.

With Image Optimizer enabled:

  1. Images are automatically compressed when uploaded
  2. Images are converted to WebP for supported browsers
  3. Optimized images are served dynamically to visitors
  4. Original images are preserved as backups
  5. Subsequent requests load optimized images instantly

Why Use Image Optimizer?

  • Faster Page Loads: Reduce image load time by 50–80%
  • Automatic WebP Conversion: Serve next-generation image formats automatically
  • No Quality Loss: Smart compression maintains visual clarity
  • Improved Core Web Vitals: Better LCP and performance scores
  • Reduced Bandwidth Usage: Smaller images load faster worldwide

Who Should Use This Feature?

  • Content-Heavy Sites: Blogs, news sites, portfolios
  • E-Commerce Sites: Faster product and category images
  • Landing Pages: Improved conversion rates
  • Mobile-First Sites: Better performance on slow networks
