Types of Templates

WordPress sites built in InstaWP can be saved as templates of different types: private, for internal use by you or your team members; and shared, for sharing with anyone online. This allows you to save the site's current files and database snapshots. When you create a new site from these templates, it will be a replica of the original.

In this documentation, we will give you an overview of the different types of templates and how they are created.

Let’s get started 🚀

How to Change a Template’s Type in InstaWP?

Go to the Templates page and click the "Add New" option to create a new template from an existing site.

Here, you can build new templates from your existing WordPress staging sites via the following types:

Private
Shared

Private

On selecting the “Private” type, the template can be used internally by you or your team members. This is ideal for saving blueprints, as it consistently applies your team's best practices and preferred setups. For more information on how to create a template, refer to this document.

Note: On enabling “Instant Template,” you can supercharge your private/shared templates, which adds them to the InstaWP's warm-up pool to load them fast for your users of instant site creation.

Shared

On selecting the “Shared” type, the template can be shared with anyone online, allowing them to create guest sites by visiting a shareable link. This is ideal for showing demos and sharing setups broadly.

Further, you can monetize your shared template and start making money with it in one click. For more information, refer to Types of Shared Template.
